The short version. Your notes are stored on your own PC and never sent to us. The app has no account, no analytics and no ads.
The only information we receive is what's needed to sell you a licence: your name, email and order details, which come to us from our payment provider.
Who we are
SneakyNotes is a notes app for Windows made by Rahul Sehjal ("we", "us"). This policy covers the SneakyNotes app and the website sneakynotes.com. Questions? Write to contact@sneakynotes.com.
The app
Your notes stay on your PC
Everything you write in SneakyNotes, including images you add, is saved in a file on your computer (by default in your Documents folder, in a folder named SneakyNotes). Your settings and the app's logs are also kept only on your computer. We don't have a copy and can't see them.
If your Documents folder is synced to OneDrive, SneakyNotes saves your notes in a local folder instead, so that they aren't uploaded.
No account, no tracking
SneakyNotes doesn't ask you to sign up. It contains no analytics, no telemetry, no advertising and no crash reporting that sends data anywhere.
The licence check
To activate a licence key, SneakyNotes sends the key and a name for this installation to our payment provider, Dodo Payments, which tells the app whether the key is valid. The app checks again from time to time (at most every couple of weeks) so that keys that have been revoked stop working. No notes, files or other content are ever sent. If you're offline, the app keeps working and checks later.
Windows you use
To show a note for the app or window you're in, SneakyNotes reads the name and title of the window in front. This happens on your PC only; nothing about it is stored outside your notes file or sent anywhere.
Links
When you open a link from a note, it opens in your own web browser. SneakyNotes doesn't load web pages itself.
Buying SneakyNotes
Purchases are handled by Dodo Payments, which acts as the reseller (the "merchant of record"). Dodo Payments collects your name, email address, billing address and payment details, processes the payment, handles sales tax and sends your receipt. Their own privacy policy applies to that information.
From Dodo Payments we receive what we need to deliver your licence and help you: your name, email address, country, what you bought, when, and your licence key. We never see your full card details.
We use this information only to deliver and manage your licence, answer your questions and meet our legal and tax obligations. We don't sell it, and we don't use it for advertising.
This website
sneakynotes.com uses no cookies, no analytics and no tracking, and it loads nothing from other companies' servers (even the fonts are ours). The company that hosts the website may keep standard access logs, such as IP addresses and browser types, for security and to keep the site running.
Emails
If you write to us, we use your email address and what you send us only to reply and help you. We don't send newsletters or marketing emails unless you ask for them.
How long we keep information
We keep order and licence records for as long as your licence is in use and as long as tax and accounting laws require. We keep support emails as long as needed to help you, then delete them.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it (except what we must keep by law). Just email contact@sneakynotes.com. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to object to how we use your information or to complain to your local data protection authority.
Your notes are under your control: you can export them, move them or delete them at any time from the app or from your computer.
Children
SneakyNotes isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update it here and change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll say so on the website.
